Job summary

The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts is hiring a full-time Development Assistant to assist with donor relations, data management, and event support. Responsibilities include tracking gifts, drafting correspondence, and coordinating events.

About the Job

Position: Development Assistant (full‑time) reporting to the Director of Development. This administrative role assists the Development Department with donor relations, data management, and event support.

What You'll Do
  • Accurately track all incoming gifts.
  • Enter data and generate acknowledgment letters within one week of receipt.
  • Draft correspondence and communication for donors.
  • Generate various reports as needed.
  • Conduct research on donors and prospects.
  • Coordinate the production of development collateral.
  • Maintain a comprehensive development calendar.
  • Field phone calls for the Development Department.
  • Manage the Director of Development and the Development Committee calendar, ensuring alignment with daily workflow.
  • Support the department with general administrative tasks (filing, copying, mailing).
  • Coordinate & attend donor benefit events and other development events.
  • Interface with donors to answer questions, provide customer service, and resolve issues.
  • Attend and represent the Development Department at weekly operations meetings.
  • Generate and report board member and donor information from Tessitura to necessary parties.
  • Represent The Wallis and Development Team in the David Bohnett Foundation Founder’s Room when required.
  • Schedule and coordinate development committee meetings, distribute materials, and take detailed minutes.
  • Adapt to changing responsibilities as needed.
  • Availability for events during nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Skills & Experience Needed
  • 2‑3 years experience in an office or administrative support role; arts or fundraising experience preferred.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Customer service experience.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel especially) required.
  • Experience with Tessitura and/or Raiser's Edge a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in arts, humanities, communications or related field preferred.
Compensation & Benefits

Full‑time, non‑exempt position. Pay range: $20.00–$21.50 per hour. 100% paid medical benefits (including dental, vision, and life insurance), paid vacation, personal and sick days, 401(k), paid parking. Complimentary tickets to performances and events occasionally available.
