Job summary

Center for the Arts - Jackson Hole, WY seeks a Development Director to lead strategic fundraising initiatives, including annual giving, major campaigns, sponsorships, and grants. You will work closely with the Executive Director, Board, and a dedicated Development team to build a diverse revenue portfolio and foster a culture of philanthropy that advances the Center's mission.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years nonprofit fundraising experience
  • Capital and/or major fundraising experience preferred
  • Comfortable asking individuals to commit time, money, and talents in support of an organization
  • Well-developed understanding of fundraising fundamentals, including Moves Management
  • Working knowledge of databases and CRM systems
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google systems

Responsibilities

Job description

The Development Director is a key leader for the organization, providing overall strategic direction for all fundraising initiatives including annual giving, major campaigns, special events, sponsorships, and grants. In close collaboration with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and a dedicated Development team, this department head works to establish, maintain, and fortify a diverse portfolio of contributed revenue streams, ultimately creating a culture of philanthropy that ensures The Center can be successful in delivering on its mission.

Annual Fund
  • Lead the formulation and implementation of annual strategies to garner broad community support for The Center
  • Identify, solicit, and steward donors at various levels through a wide variety of means
  • Actively manage donor relationships through frequent in-person meetings and regular touch points
  • Oversee the execution of a Moves Management system
  • Administer a strong communications program to ensure donors remain informed and engaged
  • Expand and implement donor recognition strategies such as giving societies and planned giving
  • Establish and/or maintain a broad community presence which reflects positively on The Center
Major Gifts and Special Campaigns
  • Oversee special campaigns as needed, including the community fundraising component of the organization's 20th Anniversary Celebration in 2027
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of major donors and prospects, maintaining a high level of personalized engagement
  • Contribute to proposals and reports for major donors when requested
  • Participate in the development of campaign messaging and materials that clearly communicate the organization's impact alongside its need for support
  • Expand and implement donor recognition strategies, including physical signage on campus
  • Drive strategy for broad community participation in annual fundraising events
  • Identify, solicit, and manage donors and sponsors to the Annual Benefit Concert
  • Implement an effective annual strategy for Old Bill's Fun Run in coordination with the Marketing department
  • Support staff in creating and planning other cultivation and stewardship events such as donor dinners, recognition events, and artist meet & greets
Sponsorships & Grants
  • Maintain effective corporate sponsorship and grant writing programs with support from the Development Manager
  • Assist in creating and implementing strategies that encourage participation and growth in these programs
  • Identify, research, and secure funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government entities
  • Oversee the writing, submission, and reporting of grants with support from the Development Manager and other staff
  • Ensure team members are processing, recording, and acknowledging all donations in a timely manner
  • Oversee database management so that records remain clean, current, and accurate
  • Assist in the management of The Center's fundraising presence online through various channels
  • Hire, train, mentor, evaluate, and create accountability measures for Development staff
  • Promote a comfortable, collaborative, and productive working environment
Board Relations
  • Serve as primary staff contact for the Development Committee of the Board of Directors
  • Set annual meeting schedule in coordination with Committee Chair
  • Establish meeting agendas and areas of focus to ensure committee members remain engaged

Qualifications
Experience

Compensation

Anticipated salary range: $135,000 - $160,000 per year DOE

This is a full-time exempt position with full benefits package. Benefits include paid vacation, sick, and holidays; group health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) match and HSA match.

Working Conditions

Core hour work schedule with occasional evening and weekend obligations in a facility that is open to the public 355 days annually. Open office workspace with potential for occasional remote work and/or flex time hours. Regular interactions with VIP donors and patrons.
