Job description

The Development and Communications Manager will play a key role in expanding the YWCA’s visibility, strengthening donor engagement, and supporting the implementation of a $2.4 million fundraising campaign—Let Women Lead. This position will work closely with the CEO, campaign consultants, and program and administrative staff to coordinate fundraising activities, implement communications strategies, and manage donor and sponsor relationships.

This is a hands-on role ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented, and mission-driven professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and who wants to partner and grow with a passionate and visionary team.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising Coordination

  • Manage day-to-day campaign operations, including donor tracking, data entry, and acknowledgments
  • Support individual giving strategies, including donor stewardship, online giving, and recurring donations
  • Assist with preparation of donor outreach materials, proposals, and stewardship reports
  • Coordinate logistics for fundraising events, including In the Company of Women and Turn Up the Heat, and other community and special events
  • Conduct donor, foundation and sponsor research to support cultivation strategies

Communications Coordination

  • Collaborate with CEO and consultant(s) to develop and implement a strategic communications calendar
  • Support the distribution of email campaigns, newsletters, and donor updates
  • Ensure consistent messaging across social media, website, and print materials
  • Engage in social media platforms – like, share, comment, and work with CEO and consultant(s) to build and engage followers on all platforms
  • Work with program team to organize and share impact and transformation stories for public education, social media and fundraising
  • Work with consultants and vendors on creative design and production as needed

Corporate & Foundation Support

  • Assist tracking follow-up for foundation and corporate proposals
  • Support meetings and materials needed for corporate outreach for major events and campaigns
  • Help manage a pipeline of institutional funders and reporting deadlines

Data & Systems Management

  • Maintain accurate donor records and reporting in CRM/database in DonorPerfect
  • Prepare regular reports on fundraising progress and campaign performance
  • Oversee gift entry, acknowledgment letters, and campaign tracking systems

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, communications, or related roles
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Experience managing donor databases, email marketing platforms, and social media tools
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and respond to shifting priorities
