About the role:

Reproductive Freedom for All is looking for a Senior Development Communications Manager, who will put their writing and fundraising talents to use alongside a team of passionate advocates fighting on the front lines for reproductive freedom.

Reports to: Senior Director of Foundations & Development Communications

This position is: Full-time, Non-Exempt, Union, Level: V

Salary range: $74,000 - $98,000

We are at a pivotal moment in the fight for our freedoms, and our organization has grown rapidly in recent years. As part of our Development team, you will play a central role in ensuring our team can work quickly, efficiently, and effectively to secure the funding needed to continue and expand this vital work.

You will work directly with the Senior Director of Foundations & Development Communications to develop and execute a sophisticated fundraising communications strategy that tells donors the story of our organization’s work and the people behind it, that elevates our visibility and brand, and that ensures our fundraising team can work quickly to secure grassroots gifts, major gifts, and multi-year, eight-figure grants.

We need someone ready to hit the ground running—we’re looking for someone who has at least 6 years of experience in fundraising, including significant, demonstrable experience in development communications, and who is skilled at adapting their prose to a variety of donor audiences. The ideal candidate has a clear understanding of a variety of donor relationships (major gifts, foundations, events, grassroots); possesses strong communication skills and works well across teams to achieve mutual goals; can work quickly in rapid response moments while maintaining longer-term goals; has strong attention to detail; and understands how to manage projects from start to finish.

In this role, you will:

• Develop, write, and maintain a stable of up-to-date, compelling content to support our Foundations, Major Gifts, and Events teams, including but not limited to: cases for support; donor communications (major donor email updates, presentations, and sponsor letters); and proposals and reports—from short write-ups on smaller programs to comprehensive proposals and reports that secure funding for Repro for All’s programs and initiatives. This includes developing outlines and writing content that is compelling and reflects a commitment to diversity and inclusion; working with other departments and program staff to develop content; developing project budgets; and copy editing materials for submission;
• Work with the Senior Director of Foundations & Development Communications to develop and execute a sophisticated fundraising communications strategy that creates a cohesive narrative across our Development team—while ensuring that Reproductive Freedom for All’s brand is used consistently and includes a racial justice and equality lens. This role will be responsible for writing materials for c3, c4, and electoral audiences;
• Lead the development collateral program, which includes donor marketing materials such as our annual report and newsletters. This includes drafting copy, pulling art, liaising with staff, communicating with outside design vendors, and leading the production schedule;
• Work with the Senior Director of Foundations & Development Communications to expand the development collateral program—working across the team to identify and create new materials as needed for Foundations and Individual Giving to use year-round for donor cultivation and stewardship, and to help expand our donor base to include younger donors and donors of color;
• Provide feedback and input on other donor communications as needed, such as fundraising emails and direct mail copy;
• Work with our Development Operations and Data teams to ensure we’re collecting and managing metrics for proposals, reports, and collateral that show the value and impact of our work; and
• Other duties consistent with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined in this job description may be assigned.

Qualifications (What You Bring) - Required

• Ability to synthesize complex information and turn it into a compelling story that motivates a wide variety of donors to support our work;
• Ability to adapt writing style to different mediums and audiences; copy edit thoroughly and meticulously; and be open to feedback and direction;
• Strong project management skills and the ability to juggle deadlines, manage details to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, and be flexible in an environment where priorities can shift quickly;
• Demonstrated commitment to the mission of Reproductive Freedom for All and enthusiasm for reproductive health and freedom advocacy;
• At least 6 years of experience in fundraising, including significant, demonstrable experience in development communications (e.g., writing proposal, reports, cases for support, collateral, direct mail);
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and Google programs, development research tools, and development CRMs;
• Knowledge of diverse groups, desire to work with a multicultural workforce, and demonstrated sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural differences;
• Commitment to ensuring anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion, which are at the heart of our work and our organization; and
• Willingness and ability to travel (up to 10-15%).

• Experience writing for political or direct advocacy campaigns.
