Job summary

The Lawson Companies, Inc. is seeking a Development Analyst in Virginia Beach to support real estate investment and development across LIHTC projects.

You will assist in financial underwriting, market research, and feasibility analyses for land, rehab, and ground-up developments. You'll collaborate with a development team, advance opportunities through due diligence, entitlements, and contract structuring, and gain exposure to capital resources while contributing to a growing multifamily

Qualifications

• 0-3 years of relevant experience in real estate development, acquisitions, investment analysis, finance, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
• Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
• Exposure to LIHTC or affordable housing preferred.
• Strong financial and business acumen with an interest in commercial and multifamily real estate development.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze development opportunities and perform financial feasibility analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-task environment, balancing competing priorities and multiple project assignments.
• Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders both internally and externally.
• Capacity to execute autonomously and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Source and evaluate new development opportunities.
• Perform financial underwriting to assess feasibility and long-term returns.
• Conduct market, zoning, and feasibility analyses.
• Prepare investment memoranda for investment committee discussions.
• Support acquisitions and entitlements process; assist in negotiations.
• Assist in contract structuring and due diligence.
• Ad hoc research and analysis to support development activities.
• Support design phases and entitlement activities.
