Job summary

The Staff Accountant - Development is responsible for supporting accounting and reporting for Welltower's development and construction projects. You will record and reconcile costs, capital expenditures, and project accruals, and assist with monthly and quarterly reporting in alignment with internal controls.

This role collaborates with development, asset management, and corporate accounting teams to ensure accurate financial data, contribute to process improvements, and analyze project costs

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required; knowledge of accounting theory including GAAP and IFRS is preferred.
• Experience: 1-3 years of public or corporate accounting is preferred.
• Professional certification (CPA) is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform accounting and financial reporting in areas such as fixed assets, development loans, capital expenditures, and development.
• Track and code development projects’ costs and assist in consolidation for SEC filings.
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal controls; document processes and continually identify improvements.
• Collaborate with development, asset management, and corporate accounting teams to ensure data accuracy.
• Deliver accurate working papers and monitor assigned accounts; support cost analyses and budgeting.
• Provide exceptional internal customer service and maintain stakeholder communication.
