DPP is seeking a Developer IV for an opportunity with our client in the healthcare insurance industry.

Work Location: Hybrid in Columbia, SC; onsite at least 3 days/week

Duration: 6+ months

Terms: W2 Contract

Responsibilities

• The Developer IV is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, Oracle, Web Services and REST-based technologies.
• This role works closely with business and compliance stakeholders to deliver enhancements and support a Compliance Notification System that automates critical business processes and regulatory communications.
• Responsibilities include application modernization, technical debt remediation, framework upgrades, production support, systems integration, automated testing, and the effective use of AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve developer productivity and code quality.
• The position also provides technical leadership, participates in code reviews, and helps drive continuous improvement across the application portfolio.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree-in Computer Science, Information Technology or other job-related degree;
• OR 4 years of job-related work experience;
• OR 2 years of job-related experience plus an associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other job-related degree.
• 6 years of application development, systems testing or other job related experience.
• Java (Java 11/17+),Spring Framework / Spring Boot.
• Hibernate / JPA.
• Oracle Database / SQL.
• REST APIs & Web Services.
• GitHub Enterprise and GitHub Copilot.
• Git-based Source Control (Git/GitHub).
• CI/CD and Build Tools (Maven, Jenkins or equivalent).
• Experience modernizing large or long-lived Java enterprise applications.
• Advanced experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise applications.
• Strong Java development experience, including object-oriented design, reusable components, exception handling, and secure coding practices.
• Hands-on experience with the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Strong working knowledge of Hibernate or comparable Java persistence frameworks.
• Experience working with relational databases, SQL, data modeling, stored procedures, and database performance considerations.
• Experience developing and consuming REST APIs and integrating applications with internal or external systems.
• Demonstrated experience completing major Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, or Java upgrades.
• Experience with Oracle databases and enterprise data-integration patterns.
• Experience with IBM WebSphere, Open Liberty, or comparable Java application-server environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Newer Web Development Technologies like Node.js,React & Angular.
• Preferred experience modernizing legacy Java applications.
• Experience in AWS cloud technologies, GitHub Copilot or other approved AI-assisted development tools.
• Docker/container technologies, and application monitoring tools such as Splunk.
• Experience with event-driven processing, scheduled jobs, messaging, or enterprise notification services.
• Experience supporting regulated, government, healthcare, Medicare, or compliance-sensitive applications.
• Experience developing workflow, case-management, correspondence, alerting, or notification systems.
• Familiarity with accessibility, records retention, audit, and data-protection requirements.
• Experience improving application performance, reliability, observability, and operational supportability.
• Experience using GitHub Copilot or another approved generative-AI development assistant in a controlled enterprise environment.
• Experience developing an AI-assisted modernization approach that includes human review, automated testing, security scanning, and measurable validation.
