Job summary

SmartThings, Inc. is seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer for the Developer Center to own API docs, SDK guides, and integration tutorials. You will manage the docs site, frontend, and publishing pipeline, collaborating with platform engineers, PMs, and designers to deliver a high-quality developer experience.

This hybrid role requires onsite presence at the Minneapolis, MN office 3 days per week and a strong background in technical writing for developers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 2+ years of combined software engineering and technical writing.
• Demonstrated strong technical writing for a developer audience.
• Experience with Docusaurus or comparable documentation frameworks.
• Strong proficiency with HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
• Experience with Node.js and frameworks such as Express or Next.js.
• Comfortable owning a build and deploy pipeline: CI/CD, previews, static site builds.
• Strong information architecture instincts.

Responsibilities

• Own the docs site on the Developer Center end to end: Docusaurus theme customization, MDX components, versioning, search configuration, CI/CD, and analytics.
• Write and maintain technical documentation (API docs, SDK guides, and integration tutorials).
• Establish documentation standards and maintain quality through linters and reviews.
• Collaborate with platform engineers, product managers, and designers to build features for the Developer Center.
• Use AI tooling to accelerate drafting, research, and content audits with verification before release.
• Proactively communicate progress and challenges to stakeholders and team.
