Job summary

TM Floyd & Company (TMF) seeks a COBOL Developer for an on-site contract-to-hire role in Columbia, SC. The candidate must be a US citizen capable of obtaining a low-level security clearance and willing to undergo thorough background checks.

The role requires COBOL expertise, mainframe know-how, and experience with HIPAA X12 processing. Responsibilities include working with a small host-team, coordinating with the team lead on assignments, and supporting healthcare claim processes with operations

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain a low-level U.S. security clearance and U.S. citizenship.
• Experience with COBOL language and mainframe environments.
• HIPAA X12 5010 transaction processing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Host NDM, FTP, VPN file transfers.
• Healthcare claims data formats knowledge for Commercial/EDIG/TRICARE systems.
• PIMS provider knowledge from original PIMS development.
• Experience with IBM Connect Direct and related tools.
• Understanding of requirements, test plans, and implementation plans.
• Familiarity with CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ, JCL, Easytrieve and vendor pricing software.
• MS Office proficiency; EDz vendor product experience.

Work Authorization:

Sponsorship is not available for this role; no C2C or third-party candidates. Candidates must be able to work on our W2.

Hours:

8:00am-5:00pm; On-call for 1 week every 6-7 weeks (including weekend).

Onsite/Remote:

Role is ONSITE - No remote (will accept candidates who will move on their own). Position: Contract to hire. C2 Clearance Eligibility - US Citizen and Green Card only.

Credit check must be processed during pre-screens. USA residency requirement on background screening (foreign nationals must have resided in the US for at least three (3) of the last (5) years prior to assignment to applicable government contract).

Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience with COBOL
• Preferred experience with HIPAA X12 5010 transaction processing
• Knowledge of Host NDM, FTP, VPN push/receive of files from UNIX servers
• Healthcare claims knowledge of data and file formats for Commercial systems, EDIG systems, and TRICARE systems
• PIMS provider knowledge from development of original PIMS application
• Experience with IBM Connect Direct
• Understanding of technical requirements, business requirements, test plans, implementation plans
• Familiarity with CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ, IBM Batch JCL, Easytrieve, Client Code Generator, and vendor pricing software
• Proficiency in MS Office
• Experience with EDz vendor product for client on non-host
• Knowledge of Mainframe utilities (Syncsort, IDCAMS, IBM IEB*, IEF* utilities, File-AID, Zeke Scheduler, NDM, FTP, VPN)
• Self-starter and team player
• Ability to work on call for 1 week every 6-7 weeks

Key Responsibilities:

• Work within the team on the host side with a small team of developers
• Collaborate closely with the team lead on direction and job assignments
• Interact with non-host and operations teams to support the process managing healthcare claims

Education/Certifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job-related degree; OR
• 4 years of job-related work experience or 2 years of job-related experience plus an Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job-related degree

The hourly rate for this position is $50.36.
