Build-A-Bear Workshop in St. Louis, MO seeks a Senior Developer to turn business needs into scalable software solutions across the full stack, from requirements through deployment.

In this hands-on, individual contributor role, you will design, code, test, document, and support enterprise applications, collaborating with product owners and IT teams to deliver reliable, high‑quality systems. Office-based in St. Louis with a culture focused on customer experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Software Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5–7 years of software development experience.
• Proficient in full-stack development (front-end & back-end).
• Proficient in OOP languages (C#, Java).
• Experience with relational databases (SQL, PostgreSQL).
• Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (React).
• RESTful API development & integration.
• Git and Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable web and enterprise applications across the full stack (front-end & back-end).
• Perform debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis for production issues.
• Collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, and IT teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Provide Tier-2 support and troubleshoot existing software solutions.
• Write and maintain technical documentation for applications, APIs, and processes.

As a Developer, you will play a pivotal role in transforming business needs into innovative, scalable software solutions. In this hands‑on, individual contributor role, you’ll drive the software development lifecycle—from understanding requirements and designing elegant solutions to coding, testing, documenting, & deploying high‑quality applications. Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable web & enterprise applications across the full stack; front-end & back-end
• Perform debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for production issues
• Collaborate with product owners, business stakeholders, and cross-functional IT teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Provide Tier-2 support and track down issues with existing software solutions.
• Write & maintain technical documentation for applications, APIs, and processes
• Other duties as assigned by management

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other related fields OR equivalent experience
• A minimum of 5-7 years of experience working in a software development role
• Proficient in full-stack development (front-end & back-end technologies)
• Proficient in developing applications using object-oriented programming (OOP) languages (eg., C#, Java, or similar)
• Proficiency working with relational databases ( eg. SQL, PostgreSQL)
• Proficiency working with HTML, CSS, & JavaScript frameworks (eg. React)
• Skilled in RESTful API development & integration
• Skilled with version control systems (Git) & Agile Development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Exposure to microservices architecture and distributed systems
• Prior experience supporting production systems and Tier 2 supports
