Cullerton Group invites applications for a Dev/Research Engineer 2. The role is onsite in Mossville, Illinois, for a 24-month period with potential permanence.

The position focuses on engine test preparation, data acquisition, and troubleshooting in a hands-on, fast-paced engineering setting. Responsibilities cover configuring test cells, collaborating with engineers and technicians, documenting issues, and ensuring test plans meet objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required.
• 2–4 years of related engineering experience; internships may count.
• Hands-on with mechanical/electrical test setups and data-acquisition equipment.
• Experience with large diesel engines testing or data analysis.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and reports.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Willingness to work onsite in Mossville, IL, 7:30–4:00.
• Export-control eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Support and mentor test-cell operators during engine testing.
• Prepare engine/test-cell configurations per plans.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, instrumentation issues.
• Coordinate with facilities, instrumentation, mechanics to resolve problems.
• Document hardware and equipment issues accurately.
• Review test plans with senior engineers and prepare equipment.
• Participate in daily stand-up and shift handoffs.
• Communicate progress and findings to the technical team.
• Research, develop, manufacture, test mechanical tools and devices.
• Review specs and drawings for technical feasibility.
