Job summary

Major League Hacking is seeking a DEV Community Manager to steward the DEV (dev.to) community. You’ll be the day-to-day guardian, engaging with members, shaping the tone, and ensuring fast, thoughtful help on the platform.

You’ll work closely with MLH and DEV, moderating decisions, coordinating volunteer moderators, and connecting communities across Reddit and other channels. The role requires overlap with US Eastern Time and is open to candidates outside NYC.

Qualifications

• Active in the DEV community and comfortable engaging in technical circles.
• Experience moderating and guiding communities on chat and social platforms.
• Ability to write clearly and curate content with a consistent brand voice.

Responsibilities

• Live on DEV daily: read, comment, react, post to understand culture and members.
• Moderation: set standards, recruit and support moderators, maintain a welcoming environment.
• Community Support: manage support channels to ensure prompt responses.
• Listen and Route: identify issues and route feedback to internal teams.
• Source New Contributors: engage writers to contribute insights to DEV.
• Monitor external platforms: oversee presence on Reddit and other channels.
• Content Curation: editorial roundups, newsletters, and email marketing.
• Editorial Judgment: elevate quality content and maintain brand voice.
• AI-Assisted Work: use AI tools with taste and quality control.
