Job summary

Clera is seeking a hands-on Community Lead to own the end-to-end lifecycle of a growing ambient AI product’s community. You will build activation funnels from newcomers to evangelists and bridge users with cross-functional product and hardware teams.

You will manage communities across Discord, Reddit, and X, test mechanics to convert power users into advocates, and coordinate campaigns with Growth, Marketing, and Product. Hybrid work in the SF Bay Area is supported.

Qualifications

• 2+ years building and scaling an online community for a B2C or prosumer product into a measurable driver of engagement or retention.
• Proven ability to design and test mechanics that turn power users into advocates.
• Hands-on experience moderating and engaging on community platforms (Discord/Reddit/X).
• Experience coordinating campaigns with Growth, Marketing, and Product teams.
• Operationally sharp with a track record of independent decision-making.

About The Role

This is a hands-on community leadership role at an early-stage ambient AI startup, reporting directly to the General Manager. You will own the community end-to-end, building the full conversion funnel from new user to passionate evangelist, and acting as the critical bridge between engaged users and a cross-functional product and hardware team.

• Design and test concrete mechanics, such as recognition systems, referral programs, and early access tiers, that convert power users into active advocates.
• Mobilize the community at high-impact moments including product launches, user research initiatives, and marketing campaigns.
• Gather rich feedback from community conversations and translate it into actionable product signal for R&D and product teams.
• Coordinate in-person events and experiences that deepen community bonds and brand affinity.
• Collaborate across time zones with distributed R&D, hardware, and supply-chain teams to keep community insights flowing into the roadmap.
• Define scope and make independent operational calls in a role without a pre-built playbook.

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years building and scaling an online community for a B2C or prosumer product into a measurable driver of engagement or retention.
• Demonstrated ability to design and test mechanics that turn power users into active advocates, not just hope it happens organically.
• Hands-on experience managing community platforms such as Discord, Reddit, or X, including moderation, engagement strategy, and feedback collection.
• Experience mobilizing communities for specific campaigns and coordinating effectively with Growth, Marketing, and Product teams.
• Operationally sharp, with a track record of making independent calls and resolving community issues without pre-existing frameworks.
• Experience working across distributed or cross-timezone teams, particularly to close feedback loops between community and product development.
• Track record of converting user feedback into actionable product insights and demonstrating community impact on key metrics.
• Experience coordinating in-person events or activations is a plus.
• Fluency in Mandarin Chinese or other languages relevant to international community management is a strong plus.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $150,000 to $180,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Location

Hybrid, 3 days per week in office, based in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.
