Chess Wizards, Inc in Detroit, MI is seeking enthusiastic, reliable instructors for our after-school enrichment program. You will lead fun chess classes for elementary students, using our curriculum, in the 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM window at local schools. Travel between sites is required with mileage reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Experience working with groups of children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, or similar).
• Ability to lead an interactive, engaging, and independent class.
• Professional, positive, and kid-friendly demeanor.
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals with age-appropriate explanation.
• Reliable transportation and ability to drive between locations.
• Weekday afternoon availability (2:00 PM–5:00 PM) to teach 1–5 classes per week.
• Commitment to safety protocols and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students.
• Use structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and sportsmanship.
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity.
• Encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Follow school safety protocols during arrival, dismissal, and activities.
• Travel to various local school sites for each session.
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to engage students.
