The GEO Group, Inc. seeks a Detention Officer to maintain custody, care, and control of detainees while enforcing the facility’s rules and procedures. You’ll ensure safety, conduct counts, and respond to emergencies across living, dining, and visitation areas.

The role requires completing training, working various posts, and preparing reports. A valid driver’s license, US citizenship, and a background suited to corrections are essential.

Qualifications

• Citizen of the United States required.
• High School Diploma or GED from a US- accredited institution.
• FDLE Certified Officer or 2 years corrections experience, or military veteran.
• No dishonorable discharge from the Armed Forces.
• Valid state driver’s license and ability to work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Oversee custody, care, and control of detainees while enforcing company rules and contracting agency policies.
• Monitor detainees in living, recreation, dining, and visitation areas; coordinate movements and counts.
• May operate various posts (control room, entrances, health services, security) as required.
• Provide security for program activities and supervise labor crews.
• Conduct shakedowns for contraband; prepare disciplinary reports and logs; respond to emergencies.
