Qualifications

• On-the-job training (OJT) prior to attending 320-hour in-house Detention Academy.
• After successful completion, they receive 13 hours of college credit.
• Must obtain an Arizona driver's license upon appointment and maintain it throughout employment.
• Must successfully pass a written examination, interview board and physical agility test.
• Must successfully complete background check, polygraph examination, medical examination and drug test prior to employment.
• Must not have a felony conviction within the last ten years or dishonorable discharge from the military.
• Must not have a misdemeanor conviction involving domestic violence within previous five years.

Responsibilities

• Under limited supervision performs security work of routine difficulty in the supervision, care and welfare of inmates detained in the Jail facility; performs related work as assigned.
