Job summary

Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center is seeking an experienced Assistant Facility Administrator to oversee detention/residential operations during shifts. The role focuses on maintaining order, safety, security, and compliance with Texas Juvenile Probation Commission standards.

Qualifications

• Must meet NCIC/TCIC employment guidelines.
• Must possess good moral character.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must complete a sex offender check.
• Must have three years experience in a secure detention/residential program.
• Must have a college degree and two years experience in a correctional setting.
• No disqualifying criminal history as mandated by TJJD.
• Capable of being certified as a Detention Officer by TJJD.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and secure environment for all residents at all times.
• Participate in the interview panel for selection of full-time detention personnel; provide top three candidates to the director for final interview/decision.
• Interview all part-time staff and submit candidates to the director for final approval.
• Provide orientation training for new detention/residential staff during the first two weeks of employment.
• Facilitate bi-monthly staff team meetings and submit proposed agenda for approval.
• Ensure accurate weekly time sheets are submitted by staff.
• Prepare and conduct six-month evaluations on all new staff and yearly evaluations for others.
• Discipline staff in accordance with LCJJC policies.
• Encourage staff to utilize innovative programs with residents and review new proposals.
• Develop and implement the cluster daily activity schedule monthly.
• Assist facility administrator and supervisors with population management.
• Make detention/release decisions on referrals per Texas Family Code.
• Prepare statistical reports for the director and Juvenile Board.
• Monitor shifts to ensure program implementation and report inconsistencies.
• Provide coordination between detention/residential units and probation/social agencies.
• Monitor program staffing, counseling sessions, and daily activities to ensure job performance.
• Communicate any hazardous incidents to the facility administrator.
