Job summary

Denver Sheriff Department seeks a Detention Facility Maintenance Superintendent to lead a facilities team across the Downtown Detention Center and County Jail. The role oversees maintenance, repairs, and improvements of buildings, grounds, and security systems, ensuring safe, compliant operations 24/7.

Flexibility to work various shifts and on-call emergencies is required; background checks will be conducted, and valid driver’s license is needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED, HiSET or TASC certificate.

Responsibilities

• Directs and supervises trade supervisors and skilled trades staff responsible for maintenance, repair, and improvement of correctional facility buildings, grounds, infrastructure, equipment, and security systems.
• Sets performance goals, assigns work, evaluates staff, and provides guidance to ensure safe, efficient operations.
• Develops and implements policies and plans supporting facility operations, safety, security, and department objectives.
• Coordinates maintenance projects with administration, security, other departments, contractors, and outside agencies with minimal disruption.
• Manages work priorities, schedules, staffing, and ensures timely completion of maintenance work.
• Provides guidance on complex tasks, reviews work for quality and safety, and promotes continuous improvement.
• Resolves operational issues and promotes teamwork, accountability, and compliance with rules.
