Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Public Safety is seeking a School Educator I for the Perquimans Juvenile Detention Center. The educator will teach core academic courses to small groups of students (grades 6–12) and plan lessons based on NC Standards and student needs.

They will implement IEPs, manage records, and participate in an interdisciplinary team to support education and rehabilitation goals. A valid NC teaching license and a four-year degree are required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid NC teacher license (A or M) with teaching certification in EA, English, Math, Social Studies or Science.
• Four-year college degree required.
• Experience teaching students in middle/high school with diverse needs.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and document progress.

Responsibilities

• Teach core academic subjects to grades 6–12 in a small-group setting at Perquimans Juvenile Detention Center.
• Plan lessons aligned to NC Standards and individual learning needs.
• Implement IEPs and maintain accurate student records and progress.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to plan services and treatment.
