Job summary

The State of North Carolina’s Granville Correctional Institution seeks a Science Educator III to deliver targeted science instruction to 18–22-year-old offenders, helping them pursue a high school equivalency diploma within a medium custody male facility.

Reporting to the School Principal, the educator will design engaging lessons, assessments, and remediation plans, collaborate with colleagues, and adapt instruction to diverse learning needs while maintaining security and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in the teaching area and an active NC teaching license or be eligible for Emergency/Residency licensing.
• Experience designing lessons aligned to standards for diverse learners in a correctional setting is preferred.
• Ability to maintain accurate attendance, grades, and assessments and document student progress.
• Strong collaboration with fellow teachers and school staff is required to support student success.

Responsibilities

• Design lessons and instructional materials aligned with state science standards.
• Provide direct instruction for groups and individuals to meet diverse learning needs.
• Develop and implement classroom management and behavior plans in line with school policy.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff on student progress and instructional practices.
