Job summary

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Detention Facility Officer to enforce laws and maintain order inside the facility at Centennial, CO. This hourly full-time role requires Colorado POST certification or out-of-state equivalent and involves inmate supervision, escorts, head counts and safety duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Colorado P.O.S.T. certification or out-of-state equivalent.
• No specific prior experience required.
• Preferred: college coursework in criminal justice.
• Preferred: two years in a detention facility.

Responsibilities

• Enforce health, safety and security of inmates, staff, visitors and the public.
• Maintain interior and exterior security of the Detention Facility.
• Conduct inmate escorts and transports.
• Receipt, processing and releases of inmates and property.
• Perform head counts and monitor inmate activities.
• Operate control rooms and CCTV systems.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies as needed.
