Job summary

  • Notify supervisors and emergency services in high-risk situations.
  • Participate in ongoing training on safety procedures and facility operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Job description

Salary: $52,116.89 – $72,963.65 Annually

Essential Functions:
  • Maintain safety and security within the detention facility by monitoring inmate movement, controlling access points, operating control panels and emergency alarm systems, and observing activities in housing modules, pods, visiting areas, master control, and booking areas.
  • Resolve conflicts and ensure adherence to Sheriff’s Office policies, procedures, and post orders while communicating effectively with staff, citizens, and law enforcement professionals.
  • Track inmate movement and maintain accurate records using JMS and other computer systems, rosters, and physical counts to ensure accountability of all inmates.
  • Adhere to jail policy and procedure as well as state and federal laws that govern the detention facility
  • Prepare a variety of reports, including incident reports, daily logs, and documentation required for court or administrative purposes.
  • Keep track of all inmates in your work area and maintain accurate documentation of their location
  • Count all inmates and prepare official count sheets
  • Maintain safety and security in your work area by closely observing inmates, Deputies and civilian staff
  • Notify supervisors and contact appropriate emergency agencies (SWAT, ambulance, fire department, etc.) in the event of emergencies or high-risk incidents.
  • Operate intercom systems, two-way radios, telephones, camera systems, and computer systems to communicate with staff and monitor facility operations.
  • Control and maintain keys, inventory, and access between secured areas of the detention facility, including front and rear entrances.
  • Participate in ongoing training programs and maintain proficiency in safety procedures, emergency response, and facility operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Platoon Sergeant or supervisors to support overall safety and operational efficiency of the facility.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement, Public Administration, or a related field is desired.
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Correctable vision to 20/40.
  • Ability to be assertive and self-motivated.
  • No prior experience required, but skills in multitasking and working with diverse populations are preferred.
