Job summary

City of Greer seeks a Detention Officer I in the Police Department to manage daily detention center operations, intake, booking, and supply provisioning for prisoners. You will handle phones, assist the public and prisoners, monitor activities, and maintain safety in a supervised role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.

Responsibilities

• Intakes and books prisoners, collects biographical data and prints.
• Greet the public, answer calls, route messages, and assist with warrants.
• Review and update warrants; monitor alarms; enter data in records system.
• Fingerprints non-arrest citizens for employment or authorized purposes.
• Prepare reports, forms, warrants, and booking sheets.
• Promote safety and security of inmates; provide escorts for arraignments.
• Adhere to policies and procedure manuals and legal regulations.
