Richland County Government operates the Detention Center, seeking a professional to ensure safety and security for staff and inmates. The role involves supervising inmate activities and performing related corrections and law enforcement tasks as assigned, following established procedures.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, Basic Jail Officer certification from the SC CJ Academy, CPR/First Aid certifications, and a valid driver's license, in accordance with South Carolina statutes
The purpose of this class is to provide for the safety of staff and inmates and the security of the Detention Center; to supervise inmate activities; and to perform related corrections and law enforcement work as assigned. This class works according to some procedures but decides how or when to do things; work is reviewed regularly by supervisor.
Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by the completion of required law enforcement coursework. Must possess and maintain Basic Jail Officer certification from the S.C. Criminal Justice Academy. Must possess CPR / First Aid certifications. Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Must meet other requirements as set forth in applicable South Carolina statutes and regulations.
Compensation Minimum: $20.10
