Job summary

Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska is hiring a Corrections Officer to maintain order, security, and safety within correctional facilities. You will supervise inmates, conduct transports, and enforce facility rules with a focus on humane treatment.

A valid driver’s license and corrections-related certifications are required, with a preference for candidates with LE certifications. Role includes mandatory training, background checks, and the ability to work varied shifts in a high-risk environment,

Qualifications

• Certified Law Enforcement Candidates preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and meet the Winnebago Tribe’s driver’s eligibility requirements.
• Must not have felony or serious misdemeanor convictions or arrests on record.
• No DUI convictions within the last 5 years.
• No domestic violence convictions and/or history of domestic or family violence arrests and/or protection orders.
• Must acquire and retain corrections officer certification as a condition of employment.
• Must acquire and retain first-aid and CPR certification as well as operational knowledge of first-aid equipment.
• Must be proficient in a variety of computer software programs and have basic operating knowledge of a variety of computers and office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and supervise individuals who have been arrested, are awaiting trial, or have been sentenced to incarceration.
• Conduct safe and secure transport of inmates to detention facilities, courts, or medical appointments.
• Enforce rules and regulations of the correctional facility and maintain security and humane treatment.
• Supervise inmate movement, searches, counts, and welfare checks.
• Coordinate offender services, activities, and programs and document properly.
• Provide intake and classification of new inmates and orientation to facility rules.
• Transport to court or other facilities and maintain offender supervision during transport.

Education
