Job summary

Southland Industries seeks an experienced detailer/foreman to support construction projects by creating and coordinating shop drawings, BIM models, and MEP systems. You will log, track, expedite, and distribute documentation while leading a team and training junior members.

You will develop advanced 3D BIM models, coordinate with trades, and assist with design pull schedules and cost accountability. A strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, piping and sheet metal is essential.

Qualifications

• High School or GED with 4 years of related experience, or completion of a trade apprentice program with 2 years of field experience.
• Field Foreman/General Foreman preferred
• Solid verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret basic construction documents
• Current knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Piping, Sheet Metal trades and field installation methods
• Attention to detail and project coordination skills
• Ability to train less experienced Detailers
• Working knowledge of AEC, BIM, CAD software Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD

Responsibilities

• Provides advanced support on construction projects including receiving, logging, tracking, expediting and distribution of shop drawings, RFIs and other project docs.
• Creates advanced shop drawings for mechanical systems in major construction projects.
• Creates equipment, room layout and detail drawings.
• Maintains a protocol of documents so information is retrievable and understandable.
• Leads to reduce time/costs by mitigating potential errors of clash detection.
• Provides MEP coordination.
• Performs advanced 3D modeling using BIM.
• Participates in meetings and collaborates with project team for successful product.
• Serves as lead to less experienced team members and delegates work.
• Assists with design pull schedule to guide model development to meet deliverables.
• Assists with budget and cost accountability.
• May lead final trade coordination and sign-off with General Contractor.
