Job summary

Cox Enterprises in Mount Juliet, TN is seeking a detail/shop associate to oversee vehicle preparation and quality checks. You will inspect vehicles, coordinate workflow, and ensure all SOPs and safety guidelines are followed to keep operations efficient and compliant.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with 3 years’ related experience, or a higher degree/certification in a related discipline.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license; able to drive standard and automatic transmissions.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, squat, and lean for extended periods.
  • Preferred knowledge of auto detailing and paint application processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicles to ensure repairs and work are satisfactorily completed.
  • Coordinate workflow so vehicles finish timely per Manheim quality standards.
  • Monitor SOPs to ensure proper safety and procedure adherence.
  • Ensure PPE and safety equipment are available and used correctly by staff.
  • Ensure services are performed and charged to the vehicle appropriately.
  • Monitor supplies and coordinate replenishment for the Detail Shop.
  • Assist in applying OSHA/EPA guidelines and safe-work practices.
  • Demonstrate safety commitment by following procedures and modeling behavior.
  • Support safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Drive vehicles into building and to proper car staging areas, including during sale days.

Job description

Job Responsibilities:
  • Inspect vehicles to ensure the required repairs and work is satisfactorily completed.
  • Coordinate the workflow to ensure all vehicles are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with established Manheim quality standards.
  • Monitor process and work being performed to ensure SOPs are being followed properly.
  • Ensure the appropriate PPE and safety equipment is available, and employees are properly trained in their use.
  • Responsible for ensuring all services are performed and appropriately charged against the vehicle.
  • Monitor and control the use of supplies, materials, and equipment for the Detail Shop, and coordinate the replenishment process.
  • Assist the Supervisor in the monitoring and implementing guidelines for a safe work environment and achieve compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling those behaviors.
  • Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor, including driving vehicles into building and to proper clean car staging area, occasional sale day driving.

Qualifications:
Minimum:
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field.
  • OR the right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline.
  • OR 5 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Safe drivers needed; valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, squat, and lean for extended periods.

Preferred:
  • Basic knowledge of auto detailing, paint application processes, and associated repair procedures (preferred but not required).

  • Occasional exposure to fumes, odors, and weather conditions.
