Job summary

Cox Automotive in Matteson, IL is seeking a Detail Shop Associate to inspect vehicles, coordinate workflow, and ensure repairs meet quality standards.

Candidates should have a HS diploma or GED with 3 years in related field or 5 years experience; must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to drive both manual and automatic transmissions. Safety training and PPE use are emphasized throughout the role.

Qualifications

  • Or 5 years' experience in a related field.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, and lean for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicles to ensure repairs and work are satisfactorily completed.
  • Coordinate workflow to ensure all vehicles are completed in a timely manner per quality standards.
  • Monitor process to ensure SOPs are followed properly.
  • Ensure PPE and safety equipment is available and employees are trained in their use.
  • Responsible for ensuring all services are performed and charged against the vehicle.
  • Monitor and control use of supplies, materials, and equipment for the Detail Shop.
  • Assist the Supervisor in monitoring and implementing safety guidelines and OSHA/EPA regulations.
  • Demonstrate safety commitment by following safety and health procedures.
  • Participate in safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including driving vehicles into building and to the clean car staging area; occasional sale day driving.

Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Inspect vehicles to ensure the required repairs and work is satisfactorily completed.
  • Coordinate the workflow to ensure all vehicles are completed in a timely manner and in accordance with established Manheim quality standards.
  • Monitor process and work being performed to ensure SOP's are being followed properly.
  • Ensure the appropriate PPE and safety equipment is available and employees are properly trained in their use.
  • Responsible for ensuring all services are performed and appropriately charged against the vehicle.
  • Monitor and control the use of supplies, materials, and equipment for the Detail Shop, and coordinate the replenishment process.
  • Assist the Supervisor in the monitoring and implementing guidelines for a safe work environment and achieve compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling those behaviors.
  • Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor, including driving vehicles into building and to proper clean car staging area, occasional sale day driving.
Qualifications
Minimum
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in a related field.
  • OR the right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline.
  • OR 5 years' experience in a related field
  • Safe drivers needed; valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to drive standard and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • While you won't need to do any crazy folk dancing, you must be able to stoop, bend, kneel, squat, and lean for extended periods.
Preferred

Basic knowledge of auto detailing, paint application processes, and associated repair procedures (preferred but not required).

USD 18.22 - 27.36 per hour

Compensation

Hourly pay rate is in the range of $18.22 - $27.36/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Benefits

Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
