Job summary

Our client in Paarl is seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Drafter to support the engineering team. You will create precise technical drawings and schematics from engineers' designs to ensure accurate representation for manufacturing and assembly.

Responsibilities include translating concepts into drawings, maintaining revision-controlled databases, and assisting with BOMs. Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Inventor is required; strong attention to detail is essential.

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or certificate in drafting or mechanical design.
• Proven experience as a mechanical drafter or similar role.
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor).
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication with engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 2D and 3D drawings, blueprints, and schematics using CAD software.
• Translate engineering concepts and sketches into accurate and complete technical drawings.
• Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards, company specifications, and client requirements.
• Maintain and update drawing databases, including revision control and documentation management.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and manufacturing personnel to clarify design details and resolve drafting issues.
• Assist in the creation of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and assembly instructions.
