Averro is seeking two Desktop Support Engineers for a short-term augmented support engagement with a growing technology client in South San Francisco, CA. This hands‑on role splits time between the client’s office and a SanFrancisco colocation facility, supporting end users, workstations, servers, and data center infrastructure. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail‑oriented, comfortable in a busy data center environment, and follows documented procedures. Because the systems and colocation facility contain Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), U.S. citizenship is required.

  • Image systems using MDT or a similar imaging tool, join systems to the domain, and deploy applications with tools such as PDQ Deploy (imaging training provided)
  • Create DNS records in Active Directory DNS and add or remove users from Active Directory groups
  • Install and replace computer components, including CPU, RAM, GPU, hard drives, NVMe drives, and power supplies
  • Rack and connect systems in the colocation facility: identify switch ports, connect systems to the network and KVM, trace cables, and configure static IP addresses on out-of-band management cards such as iDRAC
  • Update the DCIM tool (NetZoom), document changes, and keep the parts inventory current
  • Track work in a ticketing system such as Jira, documenting progress clearly, and follow established SOPs
Essential Qualifications
  • Hands‑on experience with desktop support, including imaging, domain joins, and application deployment (MDT, PDQ Deploy, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, AD DNS, and group membership management
  • Experience installing and replacing server and PC hardware components
  • Ability to identify switch ports, connect systems, trace cables, and connect systems to a KVM
  • Experience configuring static IPs on out-of-band management cards such as iDRAC
  • Experience supporting Microsoft365 (Outlook and OneDrive) and mobile devices (Android andiOS)
  • Experience with a ticketing system such as Jira and the ability to document work clearly
  • Ability to follow SOPs and keep accurate records of changes and parts inventory
  • Comfortable working in a loud colocation environment with hearing protection, able to climb a 6‑foot ladder to reach top‑of‑rack equipment, and able to drive between SanFrancisco and South SanFrancisco
Bonus Qualifications
  • Experience configuring Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
  • Experience with a DCIM tool such as NetZoom
  • Experience with KVM switches
  • Experience installing, organizing, and documenting wiring closets and server rooms
