About the Role
This is a Backfill, Dispatch-Based, On-Demand opportunity. A primary Desktop Support Engineer is already assigned to the customer site. The selected engineer will provide onsite coverage whenever the primary engineer is unavailable due to annual leave, sick leave, training, business travel, or other approved absences.
Occasionally, additional onsite support may also be required during weekends or special customer activities. Whenever possible, assignments will be communicated in advance so you can confirm your availability.
This role is ideal for experienced Desktop Support Engineers looking for flexible project-based work while supporting a global enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide onsite Level 1 and Level 2 technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, Windows, macOS, Linux operating systems, and basic network connectivity issues.
- Install, configure, image, deploy, and maintain desktop and laptop hardware and software.
- Support Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Office 365, Microsoft Teams, and OneDrive.
- Perform user account administration using Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
- Manage endpoint devices using Microsoft Intune and Microsoft SCCM.
- Perform software installations, operating system updates, hardware replacements, and device lifecycle management.
- Manage incidents and service requests using ServiceNow or a similar ITSM platform.
- Troubleshoot LAN/Wi-Fi connectivity and provide basic support for switches, routers, wireless access points, and network peripherals.
- Maintain hardware asset inventory, technical documentation, and equipment records.
- Deliver excellent customer service while following customer IT policies and ITIL best practices.
Required Skills:
- Experience supporting Windows, macOS, Linux, printers, and mobile devices.
- Experience with Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft Intune, ServiceNow, and Active Directory.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 / Office 365 Administration.
- Experience with networking (LAN, Wi-Fi, switches, routers, rack & stack, and wireless access points).
- Experience with hardware asset management and inventory control.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate with remote support teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting enterprise IT environments.
- ITIL Foundation Certification (preferred).
- Microsoft certifications are an advantage.
- Experience supporting executive and office users.
What to Expect:
- A primary engineer is already assigned to this customer site.
- You will provide onsite support only when the primary engineer is unavailable.
- Additional support may occasionally be required during weekends or special customer activities.
- Whenever possible, schedules will be shared approximately one week in advance.
- This is a 1099/Freelance Contractor opportunity.
- This is an on-demand role with no guaranteed working days or minimum monthly assignments.
