The McKay Group in Oakland, CA is seeking a Desktop Support professional for our US headquarters. This full-time onsite role reports to the IT/Facilities Manager and requires strong hardware/OS skills as well as familiarity with cloud services and AI tools.

You will provide desktop and facilities support, install hardware, configure OSs, manage network connections, and maintain documentation. Proficiency with Jira and cloud environments is expected; candidates should be able to lift up to 50

Qualifications

• 4-year degree or 3-5 years relevant experience required.
• Prior desktop support and Microsoft certification a plus.
• Experience with Windows, macOS, Android, and Linux environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for staff desktop and facilities needs.
• Use AI tools in administrative tasks.
• Installing new hardware components for desktops.
• Installing operating systems and software on desktops.
• Setting up network connections to desktops.
• Maintaining support documentation and training.
• Training and support of productivity software and cloud apps.

The McKay Group is a global leader in low-latency market data and network connectivity, operating at the intersection of high-frequency finance and cutting-edge technology.

We have an immediate opening for a Desktop Support position at the US headquarters in Oakland, California. This is a full-time onsite position and will report directly to the IT/Facilities Manager.

The desktop/technical support responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Providing technical support related to staff desktop and facilities needs

Using AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini in administrative tasks

Installing new hardware components for desktops

Installing operating systems and software in the desktop

Setting up network connections to desktops

Maintaining support documentation and training

Training, debugging, and support use of productivity software - this includes Cloud based Enterprise and individual client level software.

Track efforts through our ticketing system (Jira) - including ticket creation, follow-up, document, and closing completed tasks

The business support function is wide-ranging and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Remote field operations support.

Facilities management (moves, desks, chairs, power, etc.) – this function of the role will require physical demands including bending, squatting and lifting up to 50 pounds

4-year degree with some hardware/OS experience or 3-5 years work experience

Prior experience in desktop support role and/or Microsoft certification

Windows, Apple, Android, and Linux (limited) operating systems are used.

Expectation is you have enough experience in one, or more, OS to learn the others quickly.

Prior experience in cloud administrative interfaces and settings:

Google, Microsoft, and other cloud environments are used.

Experience with Jira or other ticketing system

Ability to manage and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment

Self-starting mindset toward all duties

Systematic problem-solving approach and excellent communication skills

Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini is important

Employees will be required to complete a probationary period.

The Oakland, CA base salary range for this full-time non-exempt position is $70-90k . Our salary ranges are determined by role, career level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
