MatX Inc. is seeking an organized Help Desk / Desktop Support Technician in Mountain View, CA. You will be the first IT contact for 100+ users, provisioning devices and accounts, keeping the fleet updated, enrolled in MDM, and ensuring security standards.

You will work on-site three days per week and report to the IT team. This role emphasizes rapid, clear communication and hands-on problem solving in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities

MatX's mission is to make the world’s best AI models run as efficiently as allowed by physics, bringing the world years ahead in AI quality and availability.

MatX is seeking an organized, self-starting Help Desk / Desktop Support Technician. You'll be the first point of contact for IT support for a hundred-plus users, help maintain their fleet of MacBook, ChromeOS, and Linux devices, provision new user accounts, and keep our office technical infrastructure running.

This role is based in our Mountain View, CA office and requires at least three days per week on site. You'll report to the IT team.

What You'll Do Here:

• Serve as the first point of contact for Help Desk issues, triaging and resolving or escalating them

• Provision laptops and user accounts for new employees, and deprovision them for departures

• Assist with procurement and deployment of hardware, including MacBook, ChromeOS, and Linux devices

• Help keep the device fleet up to date, enrolled in mobile device management (MDM), and compliant with our security baseline

• Assist with corporate mobile device and BYOD (bring-your-own-device) enrollment

• Maintain conference room audio/video equipment and office networking

• Track action items and projects to completion, coordinating with other teams and updating documentation as needed

Who You Are:

• 2–4 years of experience in IT support, help desk, or a similar role, ideally at a startup or other fast-paced environment

• Know Google Workspace administration, GitHub, and Linux, and have basic networking and security knowledge

• Are highly organized, detail-oriented, and write and communicate clearly

• Learn new tools quickly, act first and course-correct, and stay effective when priorities shift

• Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion

• Are based in, or willing to relocate to, the San Francisco Bay Area and can work on site in Mountain View three days per week

Bonus Points If You Have:

• Experience with an MDM platform for macOS and ChromeOS

• Scripting or infrastructure-as-code experience with Bash, Python, and/or Terraform

• Familiarity with Google Cloud IAM and group-based access management

• Genuine interest in AI infrastructure and what MatX is building

Fixed-Term Contract with Conversion Option

We want to start quickly and confirm fit in practice. This is a 3-month fixed-term contract with a conversion review at EOY 2026. We expect to convert the successful candidate to full-time employment.

Compensation (3 month contract)

$44,000 - $76,000
