Job description

As the Desktop Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include hands-on development, standardization, and management of desktop infrastructure including hardware, software, images, updates, and drivers, along with overseeing the desktop infrastructure. The Desktop Engineer must have an proactive approach and will drive improvements to the overall desktop infrastructure. This role involves taking responsibility and ownership of the daily and long-term strategic management of software and hardware related to technology within the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Develop and implement plans for desktop platform optimization and standardization.
  2. Manage SCCM and JAMF infrastructure, ensuring proper installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  3. Create application deployment objects for software.
  4. Communicate with support teams for issue resolution and workstation management.
  5. Provide 3rd level desktop platform support and coordinate with vendors for issue resolution and strategy development.
  6. Coordinate critical updates and support the Windows Servicing Model.
  7. Monitor SCCM and JAMF platform health, addressing issues and maintaining client health.
  8. Package, troubleshoot, and support application installations.
  9. Oversee operating system deployment, updates, and maintenance.
  10. Manage incident and service requests, resolving or reassigning them as needed.
  11. Collaborate with support teams to determine causes of issues.
  12. Provide technical assistance and support to clients.
  13. Utilize ITIL and change management processes.
  14. Troubleshoot SCCM and JAMF distribution point issues.
  15. Manage hardware and software assets, ensuring compliance with vendor contracts.
  16. Apply continuous improvement strategies for technology spending.
  17. Support IT infrastructure and finance projects.
  18. Direct help desk team members and provide frontline assistance for complex inquiries.
  19. Organize training for team members on best practices.
  20. Maintain records of help desk activities and present evaluations to management.
  21. Foster good working relationships within the help desk team.
  22. Develop strategies to address and prevent issues.
