Job summary

CompucomStaffing is seeking a Deskside Support Technician to join the onsite team in San Francisco, CA. This role supports conference rooms, all-hands spaces, and internal events through proactive readiness checks, live event support, and rapid troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in IT/AV support, experience with Zoom Rooms and hybrid meetings, and strong macOS troubleshooting skills. Willingness to lift up to 50 lbs and work flexible event hours is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of IT support, AV support, or event technology experience.
• Hands-on experience with video conferencing platforms and room systems (Zoom Rooms, Google Meet, or similar).
• Working knowledge of audio (mixers, wireless mics, DSP basics) and video (switchers, displays, signal flow).
• Experience supporting live events and hybrid meetings.
• Strong troubleshooting experience with macOS and enterprise end-user technology (MDM such as Jamf, SSO/identity tools such as Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom).
• Experience with Crestron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Shure, or similar platforms preferred.
• Knowledge of streaming/production tools (OBS, vMix, Blackmagic ATEM, or similar) preferred.
• CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) or similar AV certification preferred.
• Experience with Jira or similar ITSM/ticketing systems preferred.
• Composure and sound judgment in time-sensitive, high-visibility situations.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work flexible hours for events.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve conference room systems (Zoom Rooms, displays, cameras, mics, speakers, control panels).
• Run proactive room readiness checks to catch issues before meetings.
• Provide rapid live support to restore service with minimal disruption.
• Coordinate with AV integrators and vendors for repairs, installs, and escalations.
• Plan and operate technology for internal events, all-hands, and offsites.
• Run hybrid event production including audio, video switching, streaming, and presenter support.
• Conduct tech rehearsals with organizers and presenters.
• Maintain event kits, AV equipment, cables, and spares.
• Provide L2 onsite support for macOS, peripherals, accounts and SaaS apps.
• Maintain ownership of issues through resolution or escalation.
• Maintain room inventory, runbooks, and AV troubleshooting guides.
• Track recurring issues and recommend fixes or upgrades.
• Ensure clear ticket documentation and handoffs between shifts.

Our client has a new opportunity for a qualified Deskside Support Technician to join their team onsite in San Francisco, CA. This tech will provide audiovisual and event technology support, keeping conference rooms, all-hands spaces, and internal events running smoothly through proactive readiness checks, live event support, and rapid troubleshooting. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, customer focused, and comfortable running technology for high-visibility meetings and events.

Meeting Room & AV Support

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with conference room systems (e.g., Zoom Rooms), displays, cameras, microphones, speakers, and control panels
• Perform proactive room sweeps and readiness checks to catch issues before meetings start
• Respond quickly to live meeting disruptions and restore service with minimal impact
• Coordinate with AV integrators and vendors on repairs, installs, and escalations

Events Support

• Plan, set up, operate, and tear down technology for internal events, all-hands, town halls, trainings, and offsites
• Run hybrid event production: audio mixing, video switching, streaming, and presenter support
• Conduct tech rehearsals with event organizers and presenters
• Maintain event kits, portable AV equipment, cables, and spares

End-User Support

• Provide L2 onsite support for macOS, peripherals, accounts and access, and SaaS applications as needed
• Maintain ownership of issues through resolution or escalation

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain room inventory, event runbooks, and AV troubleshooting guides
• Track recurring room issues and recommend fixes or upgrades
• Maintain accurate ticket documentation and clear handoffs between shifts

Wage Range

The rate for this position is between $20.25 - $27.00 per hour, unless local minimum wage is higher. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
