What You Will Learn :

As a CAD & CAM Designer Technician working for L'Oréal Manufacturing in Florence, Kentucky, you will gain valuable experience in designing and optimizing production processes for high-volume consumer goods, especially shampoo. You will learn to create detailed digital models of manufacturing components and systems, ensuring precision and efficiency. You will also develop a deep understanding of maintaining product quality and consistency, adhering to industry standards and regulations. Collaborating with mechanics, engineers, and quality teams, you will implement improvements and troubleshoot issues, enhancing your problem-solving skills and industry knowledge.

What We Are Looking For :

This role supports new product launches, capital project implementation, and OEE improvements through in-house tooling fabrication. The successful candidate will uphold a culture of safety and focus on consumer-centric quality. Responsibilities include collecting precise measurements of equipment and tooling, then adapting those measurements for tooling fabrication. Proficiency in operating CNC equipment with up to -axis simultaneous machining capability is essential.

Required Qualifications :

Education :

High school diploma or GED.

Experience :

  • Proficiency with CAD / CAM software is necessary; Fusion is highly preferable.
  • Completion of formal CAD (Computer Aided Design) and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) certified training or three years of on-the-job training as a CAD / CAM programmer.
  • Ability to set up machining jobs with axis equipment, including tooling setup and work coordinate system offsets.
  • Familiarity with calculating and applying feed rates.
  • Experience with milling and turning stock with high precision and accuracy.
  • Minimum of two years' work experience in a manufacturing environment. Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to build positive cross-departmental relationships.
  • Conscientious, positive attitude, reliable, responsible, and flexible.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and in teams.
  • Organized, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Support implementation and adherence to all L’Oréal policies, including safety, health, environmental, quality, and equal employment policies.
  • Maintain a safe work environment following all safety procedures.
  • Design automation tooling and prototypes using CAD / CAM software for machining with CNC metal-cutting and forming machines, D Printing, and related equipment.
  • Fabricate tooling using conventional and CNC machines, D Printing, and other equipment, including saws, drills, grinders, lathes, mills, die presses, and precision measuring devices.
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, including GD&T callouts, to build tooling to specifications and annotate changes.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to create and implement tooling solutions, including developing complex tool paths, creating models or prints, and reverse engineering.
  • Estimate tooling build times to establish shop promise dates and execute work accordingly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, follow methodologies, and perform custodial responsibilities.
  • Identify and recommend cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Manage work order requests through digital and paper documentation systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
