GE Vernova, Inc. in the United States seeks an entry-level Draftsman to translate engineering input into high-quality, on-time drawings for power generation equipment.

This is an individual contributor role and the entry point into the IFPTE membership. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining mechanical models and drawings, building bills of materials, following GE practices, issuing drawings and BOMs, and coordinating with engineers and senior designers to meet schedules.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience in design/drafting or component design.
  • Technical degree or certification or relevant working experience.
  • Strong knowledge of drafting standards and GD&T.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain mechanical models and drawings for power generation equipment.
  • Create and maintain bill of materials (BOMs).
  • Follow directions from engineers and senior designers to complete designs.
  • Issue drawings, models and BOMs per GE processes.
  • Support scheduling and communicate issues early to management.

Job Description Summary

The Draftsman role is an individual contributor responsible for taking engineering input to create quality on-time world‑class drawings. This is the entry level position in the Designer team. General:Posting is for entry level into the IFPTE membership

Job Description
Essential Functions / Responsibilities :
  • Ability to create / maintain mechanical models and drawings for large Power Generation Equipment.
  • Ability to create / maintain bill of materials.
  • Following direction from engineers and Senior Designers to complete designs:
  • Retrieving design input information
  • Executing design details per standard GE practice and documentation
  • Issuing drawings, models and Bill of Materials per documented GE processes
  • Help define/maintain and meet scheduled dates for design related activities, and provide early communication to alert management of issues.
  • Understand GD&T principles and GE drawing standards and capable to create high quality detailed drawings with SIM TO products/features
  • Create detailed markups, create new drawings and have a full understanding of detailing processes/standards
  • Understanding of part attributes and their functionality
  • Proficient in PLM and able to mentor others in use of PLM
Basic Qualifications :
  • Min. 1 yr. experience in design/drafting or component design.
  • Technical Degree / Certification or relevant working experience
Desired:
  • Experience in mechanical design
  • Working knowledge of various agency certifications, codes & standards
  • Working knowledge of Power Generation mechanical Equipment
  • Knowledge of drafting standards
  • Strong interpersonal skills
