Job summary

Corporate Interiors, Inc. is seeking a Designer II to develop commercial space designs that balance function, flow, and client aesthetics.

You will participate in client meetings, programming, space planning, finish selections, and complete specifications, working closely with Sales, Project Managers and Customer Service for successful implementation. The role demands strong AutoCAD and Configura proficiency, plus solid presentation and collaboration skills to drive projects from concept through

Qualifications

  • BS/BA/BFA degree in Interior, Interior Design or Architectural Design, or related field.
  • 4+ years’ experience in furniture/office/space planning.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Advanced proficiency in CET live/Configura
  • Strong PC skills including Microsoft Windows, Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Develops block/space plans and obtains customer approval.
  • Leads customer planning meetings; presents plans for review and approval.
  • Develops finished working drawings for specification and installation; validates plans against construction drawings.
  • Produces order-ready specifications utilizing technology and verifies accuracy.
  • Manages changes and revisions; tracks budgets and schedules.

Description

The Designer II develops the design of commercial spaces for the function, flow and aesthetic desired by the client. Provides design services including client meetings and presentations, programming, space planning, typical development, finish selections, installation drawings and complete specifications. Works closely with Sales, Project Managers and Customer Service providing high-quality implementation and customer satisfaction.

  • Responsible individual and knowledgeable of the full design process.
  • Use programming requirements to develop conceptual design and block planning for a project.
  • Develops and presents block/space plans; obtains customer approval.
  • Specification of systems and conventional furniture.
  • Selects, develops and presents fabric and finish selections; obtains customer approval.
  • Leads customer planning meetings; presents plans and information to customer for review and approval.
  • Develops finished working drawings for specification and installation; validates plans against construction, electrical and A & D drawing set; obtains customer approval.
  • Develops product specifications; verifies specifications against plans; produces order-ready specifications utilizing technology; verifies accuracy and correctness.
  • Check own work for thoroughness and accuracy prior to submitting for a double check.
  • Manages changes and revisions.
  • Develop installation drawings.
  • Displays a positive attitude, remains professional, Polite and cordial in all customer facing and internal interactions.
  • Provides design budgets for projects; maintains daily timesheets; manages actual time against budgets.
  • Maintains detailed project documentation including records of key decisions, approvals and sign-offs and notes from customer/internal meetings.
  • Manages adherence to project schedule and budgets.
  • Communicates easily and clearly regarding assignment status.
  • Ensures complete and accurate plans/specifications are order ready. May be required to conduct organizational interfaces with; client, A&D firms, contractors, project managers, sales, sales administration, internal operations personnel and installation crews.
  • Works well in a team environment.
Requirements
  • BS/BA/BFA degree in Interior, Interior Design or Architectural Design, or related field.
  • 4+ years’ experience in furniture/office/space planning.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCad
  • Advanced proficiency in CET live/Configura
  • Strong PC skills including: Microsoft Windows, Excel and Word.
  • Excels under pressure in ambiguous conditions; excels at multi-tasking and prioritizing work flow.
  • Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam experience preferred
  • Dealership or manufacturer experience preferred
  • Possess solid knowledge of best practices for furniture design preferred
  • Possess solid furniture product knowledge; able to learn and apply new product knowledge in a timely manner preferred
