Job summary

Corporate Interiors is seeking a Design Engineer I, CIM, to design and validate cabinetry, millwork and furniture assemblies using CAD tools. You will plan machining, select tools, and sequence operations based on orders and drawings, ensuring GD&T alignment and dimensional accuracy.

Responsibilities include program revisions, simulations, and maintaining quality while exploring 3-D printing for future growth.

Qualifications

  • BA or BS in engineering across disciplines.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools and design software.
  • Strong conceptual, technical, and functional skills.
  • Familiarity with process improvement and instrumentation.
  • Excellent communication, dependability, and deadline discipline.
  • Experience in supply management and inventory control preferred.

Description

The Design Engineer I, CIM is responsible for the use of CNC, CAD and other software programs related to the design, implementation and execution of manufacturing product offerings. This position analyzes job orders and requirements to determine optimal tooling and machine processes.

Essential Functions
  • Utilizes CAD and design-based software such as Cabinet Vision and Alpha CAM to design and nest cabinetry, millwork and furniture related assemblies and components.
  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interprets geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Determines reference points, machine cutting paths, or hole locations, and compute angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures
  • Determines the sequence of machine operations and select the proper cutting tools needed to machine workpieces into the desired shapes.
  • Revises programs to eliminate errors, and retests programs to check that problems have been resolved.
  • Observes machines on trial runs or conducts computer simulations to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; and adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Determines the feasibility to utilize 3-D Printing technologies and to build a platform for future success and growth.
Requirements
  • BA or BS in engineering – All disciplines.
  • Computer aided design CAD software — Hexagon Cabinet Vision and AlphaCAM.
  • Spreadsheet software — Microsoft Excel.
  • Basic conceptual, technical, and functional skills.
  • Familiarity with process improvement and instrumentation.
  • Must have effective communication skills, as well as excellent attendance and work principles.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of working on multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Must be dependable with a positive attitude & commitment for success.
  • Related experience in supply management and inventory control preferred.
