Job summary

Hunter Engineering Inc. in Phoenix seeks a Designer/CAD Technician to produce high-quality civil engineering and surveying plans, supporting site design and plan production across diverse projects.

You will collaborate with engineers and surveyors, perform design calculations, maintain drawing standards, and contribute to 3D modeling and visualization.

This full-time role requires 3+ years CAD production experience and proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Associate's degree or technical certification in CAD/Drafting preferred.
• 3+ years of CAD production experience, preferably in civil engineering or surveying.
• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Strong understanding of civil engineering and surveying plan sets.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
• Excellent attention to detail and quality.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Good communication skills and team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare civil engineering plans including grading, drainage, utility, and paving plans.
• Create survey plats, exhibits, and legal descriptions.
• Develop construction details and standard sheets.
• Process field survey data and prepare base mapping.
• Perform design calculations, earthwork calculations, and quantity takeoffs.
• Coordinate with engineers and surveyors throughout design process.
• Incorporate redline markups and address review comments.
• Maintain drawing standards and template libraries.
• Assist with 3D modeling and visualization.
• Perform quality control checks on drawings.
