Job summary

Pike Engineering is seeking a substation protection and control design engineer to deliver safe, cost-effective design and drafting for utility projects in the Fort Mill area. You will support transmission substation engineering teams and coordinate with designers on P&C drawings.

Responsibilities include reading one- and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and creating substation P&C drawings from client standards. Strong CAD skills and team collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of CAD design experience.
• Proven AutoCAD and/or MicroStation skills.
• Effective oral and written communication; ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Understand protection and control designs for substation and transmission equipment.
• Read and interpret P&C design packages: one- and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, panel and wiring diagrams.
• Create substation P&C drawings from client standards and industry best practices.
• Interpret specifications and implement in engineering drawings.
• Collaborate with other design disciplines and visit sites to advise on P&C design issues.
• Liaise with stakeholders and provide design direction to team members.

Position Overview: Provide substation protection and control design, technical support, and coordination to a transmission substation engineering and design team for the purpose of delivering safe, cost-effective, and quality design and drafting projects. Provide technical competency on complex problems for projects including a wide range of utility substation projects, battery energy storage systems, and solar collector substations.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Understanding of protection and control designs as they apply to utility substation and transmission line equipment.
• Experience in reading and interpreting P&C design packages, including one- and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, panel drawings, and wiring diagrams
• Create substation P&C design drawings from client standards and industry best practices for substation P&C projects
• Ability to interpret written specifications and implement them in engineering drawings
• Collaborate, communicate, and liaise effectively with other design disciplines
• Visit sites, advise on P&C design issues

Requirements

• 2-4 Year(s) experience in CAD Design
• Proven Autocad and/or Microstation skills
