Job summary

Pike Engineering is seeking a Substation Protection and Control Design Engineer to deliver safe, cost-efficient design and drafting services for utility substation projects, battery storage systems, and solar substations.

The role requires strong CAD skills (AutoCAD/MicroStation), ability to read P&C diagrams, and collaboration with multiple design teams. Field visits may be required to support design decisions.

Qualifications

• 2-4 year(s) experience in CAD Design.
• Experience reading and creating P&C design packages and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Understand protection and control designs for substation equipment.
• Read and interpret one- and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Create substation P&C design drawings from client standards and industry practices.
• Interpret specifications and implement them in engineering drawings.
• Collaborate with other design disciplines and teams.
• Visit sites and advise on P&C design issues.

Position Overview: Provide substation protection and control design, technical support, and coordination to a transmission substation engineering and design team for the purpose of delivering safe, cost-effective, and quality design and drafting projects. Provide technical competency on complex problems for projects including a wide range of utility substation projects, battery energy storage systems, and solar collector substations.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Understanding of protection and control designs as they apply to utility substation and transmission line equipment.
• Experience in reading and interpreting P&C design packages, including one- and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, panel drawings, and wiring diagrams
• Create substation P&C design drawings from client standards and industry best practices for substation P&C projects
• Ability to interpret written specifications and implement them in engineering drawings
• Collaborate, communicate, and liaise effectively with other design disciplines
• Visit sites, advise on P&C design issues

Requirements

• 2-4 Year(s) experience in CAD Design
• Proven Autocad and/or Microstation skills
