Purpose

Floor & Decor Designers provide a seamless start‑to‑finish consultative design service that builds lasting relationships and brand loyalty with the customers we serve. Designers are responsible for meeting with customers, listening to their project needs, educating them on all that is required for their project, and building a creative design concept that incorporates the customers personal style, lifestyle, and budget.

Pay Range

$17.12 - $25.28

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

• Minimum of one (1) year of interior design experience or prior retail/sales experience
• Degree in Design is a plus
• Knowledge of hard surface flooring is a plus
• Proficient in basic mathematical skills
• Must be self‑motivated and able to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office suite
• Internal candidates must have 12 months of experience in a design consultant position

Essential Functions

• Greet store customers in a helpful manner and support store design walk‑in needs
• Schedule design appointments for existing and potential customers, developing clientele through networking and referrals and leads generated within the store
• Provide tile, wood, stone and accessories advice to homeowners, interior designers, and builders for residential and commercial projects
• Design and sell complete, functional and aesthetically appealing solutions
• Manage multiple, simultaneous customer projects through all phases with a high level of accuracy, timeliness and follow‑up, consistently communicating with customers and others; proficient use of company communication tools and emails is required
• Collaborate, partner and communicate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation, achieving sales and other goals
• Enthusiastically support all company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees
• Engage in current and emerging design trends in the market
• Use design applications such as Salesforce, proprietary online design appointment scheduler, and MyProject
• Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions

• Limited travel may be required by car
• Employee frequently exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles; noise level is typically moderate to noisy

Physical/Sensory Requirements

Medium work – ability to exert 20–50 pounds of force occasionally, 10–25 pounds frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. The employee is often required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel, stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
