Job summary

Floor & Decor is seeking a design consultant to greet customers, listen to project needs, and educate them on requirements while creating a design concept that fits their style, lifestyle, and budget.

You will schedule appointments, build clientele, and provide guidance on flooring materials for residential and commercial projects. The role emphasizes selling complete design solutions and coordinating projects from inquiry to installation in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year interior design experience or retail/sales experience
• Design degree is a plus
• Knowledge of hard surface flooring is a plus
• Proficient in basic mathematical skills
• Must be self-motivated and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Office suite
• Internal candidates must have 12 months of experience in a design consultant position

Responsibilities

• Greet store customers and support design walk-in needs
• Schedule design appointments and develop clientele via networking, referrals, and in-store leads
• Advise on tile, wood, stone and accessories for residential and commercial projects
• Design and sell complete, functional, aesthetically appealing solutions
• Manage multiple customer projects with accuracy and timely follow-up using company tools
• Collaborate with store leadership to manage projects from inquiry to installation and meet sales goals
• Support company initiatives and model best practices with store employees
• Engage in current design trends in your market
• Use design applications such as Salesforce, Online Design Scheduler, MyProject
• Perform other duties as assigned

Purpose

At Floor & Decor Designers are responsible for meeting with customers, listening to their project needs, educating them on all that is required for their project, and building a creative design concept that incorporates the customers personal style, lifestyle, and budget.

Pay Range

$17.25 - $25.75

Purpose

Essential Functions

• Greet store customers in a helpful manner and supports store design walk-in needs
• Schedule design appointments for existing and potential customers, while developing clientele through networking and referrals, as well as leads generated within the store
• Providing tile, wood, stone and accessories advice to homeowners, interior designers, and builders for both residential and commercial projects.
• Design and sell complete, functional and aesthetically appealing solutions
• Manage multiple, simultaneous customer projects through all phases with a high level of accuracy, timeliness and follow-up including consistent and concise communication to customers and others. Proficient and consistent use of company communication tools and emails are required
• Collaborate, partner and communicate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation, and achieve sales and other goals
• Enthusiastically support all company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees
• Engage in current and emerging design trends in your market
• Responsible for understanding and utilizing design applications i.e.; Salesforce, proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, MyProject
• Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions (travel, hours, environment)

• Limited travel may be required by car
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to noisy.

Physical/Sensory Requirements

Medium Work – Ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
