Job summary

Blacksmith Agency is seeking a Web Design Systems Designer to own how client design systems are built, extracting patterns from brands and reference sites into a reusable token/variable system for a build pipeline. You will ship core components across multiple sites and document the system for developers or automation.

You bring 4+ years of web design experience with real design system work, fluency in Figma, and a portfolio showing client-diverse work with consistent underlying rigor.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing for the web with real design system work in your portfolio.
• Fluency in Figma variables, component properties, auto layout, and variants. Architecture, not just tidy files.
• A portfolio where client work varies but underlying rigor remains the same.
• Strong English and overlap with US business hours.

Responsibilities

• Build token architecture in Figma using variables, modes, and semantic naming our pipeline can read predictably.
• Ship core component libraries that hold up across an entire site, not just a homepage.
• Document the system so a developer or an automated pipeline can execute it without questions.
• Work across several client brands at once with the same structural rigor.
