Job summary

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) invites talented students to join our Summer Internship Program in New York. You will work with interdisciplinary teams to learn design fundamentals, support project delivery, and build visualization skills through real-world projects.

Applicants must be returning to school in Fall 2027, have some interior design experience, and showcase strong design work in a portfolio. The program runs June 7, 2027 to August 13, 2027 with a pay range of $25–$27 per hour.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s or master’s program and returning to school Fall 2027.
• Some experience in interior design or related arts.
• Strong design portfolio or work samples.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design projects across architecture, interiors and related disciplines.
• Assist with space planning, 2D/3D drawings and renderings.
• Participate in in-person and virtual learning events and portfolio reviews.
• Prepare and present work samples as part of internship requirements.
