Job Title: Design Project Manager

A local municipality firm is looking for a Design Project Manager to join their team!

Responsibilities

1. Lead the development of executable designs for renovation, replacement, and new installations.
2. Manage design budgets for construction projects ranging from $100,000 to $6,000,000.
3. Establish creative strategies, budgets, and schedules for projects.
4. Implement building standards for design delivery.
5. Review the quality and accuracy of design projects.
6. Serve as the primary point of contact for design.
7. Collaborate and coordinate with stakeholders, internal business partners, IT, and vendors.
8. Provide reporting on the implementation of projects while in progress and upon completion.
9. Travel for site visits.
10. Serve as design lead and liaison for construction contract administration to review submittals and requests for information as needed.
11. Serve as the final reviewer for as-built documentation handover at the close-out of construction contracts.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Experience managing the MEP design of public projects.
• Experience managing the budget and scheduling of projects.
• Ability to take projects from design development, through QA/QC, to finish.
• Knowledge of HVAC design, plumbing, and design development.
• Experience in project management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background in MEP Engineering or Mechanical Contracting.
• Bachelor's degree in Building Construction, MEP Engineering, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
• 5-7 years of experience in project management.
• Experience with municipal, public sector, and industrial projects.
• Procore proficiency is a plus.
• Licensure is a plus.

Work Environment

Typical hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with a flexible schedule. The position offers a hybrid work model, initially requiring frequent office presence, then tapering to 2-3 days at home. Travel to local sites in Waukegan, Vernon Hills, and Libertyville is expected. The role involves managing diverse projects, offering opportunities for learning and problem-solving, with independent work and project oversight from start to finish.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.67 - $48.08/hr.
