The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of project management experience in large-scale data center projects and a Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline. Proficiency in project management software and BIM coordination is essential.

Job description

The Design Project Manager is responsible for leading the design and documentation phases of mission‑critical data center projects. This role requires a strong technical foundation across Architectural and Engineering (A/E) disciplines supporting data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, and structural systems. The Design Project Manager will oversee multi‑disciplinary internal and external teams from conceptual design through construction documentation, ensuring all deliverables meet performance, budget, schedule, and quality expectations within a 24/7/365 operational environment.

What you will do?

• Lead internal design teams and external A/E consultants through all phases of design, including Conceptual, Schematic, Design Development, and Construction Documentation for new builds and retrofit projects
• Serve as the primary coordination point across Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil engineering disciplines to ensure fully integrated and clash‑free designs
• Ensure all design documentation complies with internal Data Center Design Standards, Uptime Institute standards, ASHRAE TC 9.9 guidelines, and all applicable local and national codes
• Manage project design scope and consultant fees against approved budgets while identifying and processing scope changes efficiently
• Oversee the quality, accuracy, and schedule of all design deliverables including drawing packages, technical specifications, and Basis of Design (BOD) documents
• Implement and manage Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) processes for all technical documentation prior to permitting, internal review, or construction release
• Oversee BIM and Revit coordination standards to maintain model accuracy, system integration, and data integrity across all disciplines
• Collaborate with Operations, IT, Security, Commissioning, Equipment, Solutions Engineering, Architects, and Engineering teams to validate project requirements and support long‑term operational needs
• Support construction‑phase activities through technical review and timely responses to RFIs and equipment submittals while maintaining compliance with design intent
• Coordinate with internal equipment teams and external vendors to integrate technical data for generators, UPS systems, cooling infrastructure, and related critical equipment into the overall design package

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of Project Management experience managing large‑scale Data Center, Mission Critical, or heavy industrial projects
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline
• Demonstrated expertise in data center mechanical and electrical infrastructure, including critical power paths, cooling topologies, and structural loading requirements
• Proven experience managing multi‑disciplinary design teams and external A/E consulting firms
• Proficiency with project management and collaboration software including Procore and Bluebeam
• Familiarity with Revit and BIM coordination environments and workflows
