Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a design preconstruction professional in Texas to coordinate the design-build process, monitor schedules, and manage design contracts. You will support project managers, perform field surveys, and assist in developing models, plans, and calculations for complex projects.

The role requires a degree in Engineering or Construction Science with 0-3 years of experience, strong organization, writing, and communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office and Autodesk

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Science or equivalent
• 0-3 years of design, construction and/or related experience
• Good organization and time management skills
• Good analytical and technical writing skills
• Good verbal communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
• Advanced computer proficiency including MS Office and ability to learn Autodesk products like Revit

Responsibilities

• Assist Design Project Managers and develop basic project management skills within company standards and procedures (documentation, budget management, contract review)
• Participate in or lead the design and coordination of QA/QC processes to deliver high-quality projects on time and budget
• Interface with and provide clear documentation for sales, estimating, VDC, operations and field teams
• Attend and document project coordination and owner/contractor/architect/engineer meetings
• Assist with input/output of accurate project data in various tracking systems
• Develop design project schedules
• Assist with development of design models, contract plans, specs, and design calculations
• Perform on-site field surveys to collect and deliver design and engineering data
• Assist in creating RFIs and submittals for detailing processes
