Job summary

The City of Indianapolis Department of Public Works seeks an experienced engineer to oversee design management for transportation, environmental, traffic, and stormwater projects across Marion County. The role requires initiative, independent judgment, and the ability to make swift, impactful decisions.

Reports to the Chief Engineer. Minimum qualifications include a technical degree or certification or 5+ years of related work, with strong knowledge of City, State, and FHWA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or certification or 5+ years of related work experience.
• Extensive knowledge of City, State, and FHWA policies and specifications.
• Excellent oral and written skills.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Professional Engineer license in Indiana preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Design management of local, federal, multi-modal transportation, structural, and stormwater projects.
• Design specification, plan interpretation, scheduling, and planning related to infrastructure projects.
• Ensure design management activity is on schedule, within budget, and compliant with statutes and contracts.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
